WILDLIFE JOURNEY OF KANHA NATIONAL PARK MADHYA PRADESH

One of the primary Tiger Reserves to figure for Project Tiger, Kanha was established as a sanctuary in 1933, declared as a park in 1955 and eventually in 1973 was made a Tiger Reserve. It is beleive that Kanha get its name from the feel of the soil found there, which is locally called Kanhar. In the 19th century the reserve was originally a neighborhood of the Gondwanas i.e. the land of the Gonds. The land of Kanha was occupied by the Gonds and therefore the Baigas, the 2 major tribes of Central India who still live at its outskirts. With the introduction of The Jungle Book in 1894 the astounding landscapes of Kanha and Pench hailed to popularity. And to the curiosity of the various , the striking jungles of Kanha and Pench inspired Kipling to return up with the eternal concept of Jungle Book.The natural landscape and highland great thing about Kanha has been appreciate worldwide making it one the prime wildlife destinations.
Kanha Kisli park covers a neighborhood of quite 940 sq km. Unlike many national parks and tiger reserves, Kanha National Park's is crammed with a thick grassland, ideal for tigers to cover and await the pray. the gorgeous views of Kanha park make it one among the simplest places to go to in Madhya Pradesh.
Kanha park is split into 4 zones. While entire Kanha is legendary for tiger sightings, but each zone' has its own speciality. The four zones are :- Mukki Safari Zone Kilsi Safari Zone Sarhi Safari Zone Kanha Safari Zone

FLORA AND FAUNA
FAUNA
Tiger, Leopard, Jungle Cat , Chital, Sloth Bear , Gaur, Indian Jackal, Chousingha, Barking Deer , Sambar, Langur are a number of the mammals that inhabit the park. Hard-ground Barasingha, the state animal of Madhya Pradesh is found only in Kanha park in India. a couple of decades ago, Barasingha was on the verge of extinction but thanks to the conservation efforts the species was saved and it's considered as “Gem of Kanha.” Slim and bushy-tailed Dholes or Indian Wild Dogs also are found in Kanha. Moreover, beautiful Blackbucks also can be seen which are recently reintroduced within the park.
Birds: Kanha is home to around 300 species of birds both resident and migratory birds like Indian Roller, Indian Grey Hornbill, Cattle Egrets, Bee-eaters, Drongos, Black Ibis, Common Teal, Crested Serpent Eagle, Indian Paradise Flycatcher, Peafowl, White-eyed Buzzard, Kingfishers, Lesser adjutant bird , Lesser Whistling Teal, Steppe Eagle, Little Grebes and lots of more. aside from these, birds of prey like Osprey and Shikra also are found within the park. Reptiles: Python, Indian Krait, Russell’s viper, Indian Monitor, Common colubrid snake , Common Skink, and Indian Garden Lizard are a number of the common reptiles that reside within the park.

FLORA
The forest cover inside the park is essentially tropical moist deciduous type. Kanha boasts over 200 species of flowering plants and therefore the major flora are often discovered here are Sal, Saja, Lendia, Dhawa, Tendu, Palash, Mahua, and Bamboo. Kanha also inhabits Kulu or Ghost Tree and Sendhoor Tree or Vermillion Tree out of which vermillion is formed .

Elephant Safari: That is basically a joy ride of 1 hour organized only within the morning . It takes place in Kanha and Kisli zone only. This safari can't be pre-booked beforehand . you simply get to understand about the supply of elephants on the day of the safari itself. it's compulsory to book the exclusive jeep safari tickets for Kanha or Kisli zone to experience this. additionally to the jeep safari tickets you're charged an additional amount for the elephant safari.

Night Safari: This is also a recently introduced activity within the park. you'll continue an evening safari in Khatia buffer zone. Only headlights of the safari are allowed to remain on, rest no other flash light or the other light is allowed in order that wildlife isn't disturbed. The duration of the safari is 2 hours. HOW TO REACH KANHA
Air: Jabalpur is that the nearest airport to Kanha at a distance of 170 km from Kanha and travelling time is 3.5 hours. runner-up option is Raipur airport. Distance to be covered by road from Raipur to Kanha is 225 km and travelling time is 4.5 hours. Another way is to require a flight till Nagpur. Distance to be covered by road from Nagpur to Kanha is 270 km and travelling time is 5.5 hours. Kanha Earth Lodge provides with reliable cab services from the airport till the lodge. Rail: Jabalpur is that the nearest and convenient rail head to go to Kanha. Distance to be covered by road from Jabalpur railroad station to Kanha is 170 km and travelling time is 3.5 hours. Gondia is another rail head from where Kanha is accessible. But there are not any trains form Delhi to Gondia. it's convenient for the people travelling from Mumbai and Kolkata.
